We salute former AA Pro, Vet Pro, Hall Of Fame BMX racer, USA BMX Certified Coach, Team Manager, and BMX Industry Icon Turnell Henry of Custom Ops Bicycles.
“Born Turnell Lee Anderson in 1959 -better known as “Tuni” in the BMX realm. Got into BMX racing around 1977. Was part of the infamous Team jag from 1979 to 1981. Turned pro in 1981. Has ridden for Normura, KHS, Redline, and Brackens. Earned NBA No. 1 Pro Cruiser in 1982, beating out Brent Patterson. Officially retired from pro competition in 1987 after a broken collarbone, yet made a brief comeback in ’89 riding for Redline. Was part owner of LaPalma Bike center, with Bill Ryan, from ’87 until ’89. Career highlights include doubling at the USBA World Championships, winning ABA’s Porsche Series in ’88, and doubling at the 1986 Pro Spectacular. Began working for KHS in ’89, as Service Manager. Returned to ABA Masters class in 1992 and competed in the Vet pro ranks. Today, Turnell is racing ABA BMX events in the Expert Class and is co-owner of a bicycle shop in Las Vegas, Nevada. ~USABMX“
