Shantell Martin, Martone Cycling Limited Edition Art Bike

Visual artist Shantell Martin who is known for her unique freestyle line drawings linked up with Martone Cycling to create some limited edition collaboration bike pieces. Shantell applied her trademark black ink drawings to a white Martone Cycling City bicycle.

“Each style-driven city bike is built as a design piece unto itself, with signature elements including an angular basket, Lucite pedals and a red chain. Martin reimagines this unexpected canvas with twisting lines and text, inspired by her exploration of the ultimate creative urban environment—New York City.”~Artspace

We love when art and cycling collide and the final product of this collaboration looks amazing. This is what moving art is all about. What’s really cool is this bike is actually for sale via ArtSpace.com. So not only can you enjoy looking at this work of art, you can ride it around town…on a clear, non rainy day preferably 😉

ABOUT SHANTELL MARTIN:

The work of Shantell Martin is a meditation of lines; a language of characters, creatures and messages that invite her viewers to share a role in her creative process. Part autobiographical, and part dreamlike whimsy, Martin has created her own world that bridges fine art, commercial and the everyday experience — conversations, objects and places.

Using her simple trademark – black ink and white surfaces, Martin’s illustrations transform everything from walls, found objects, ceramics, luxury goods, sneakers, and even faces into a visual narrative. Martin’s diverse portfolio illustrates her gift of navigating many worlds. Her commissions at Asia’s ultra-high end department store Lane Crawford and Y&R’s global headquarters were met with the same amount of fanfare as her first solo museum show in the spring of 2014.

Martin’s recent art commissions included an interior installation at the Viacom head quarters in Times Square, New York and a custom installation for the Brown Institute for media innovation located in the Pulitzer Hall, Columbia University. She regularly creates live digital drawings at conferences, musical performances, and museums including the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Moving Image and MoMA. Solo shows include the BATA Shoe Museum, Toronto and the MoCADA Museum in New York.
